Can someone help I have been trying to remove the recent history lists
from access on winxp by deleting the application data for access
manually, and deleting all recent history files found in the search of
hidden and system folders, but it still shows the same files in the
recent history that have been deleted over and over again in ms access
anyway of permanently removing them?

Hi Jul -

Follow these steps to remove the MRU (Most Recently Used) files from the
list.

1. Open Access. Click on Tools--->Options.
2. Select the General Tab.
3. Clear the Checkbox beside "Recently Used File List".

Thanks and I hope that helps!

If you mean the recently used file list at the bottom of
the file menu, you can reduce the number displayed
(thereby removing old ones) from the Tools menu | Options
| General tab. They return, however, when the number is
increased.

Hi Jul,

Have you tried deleting the unwanted references from the Registry?

Click start
Click run
Type regedit in the field
Hit f3
Type the name of any of the unwanted files in the search field
Hit enter
There will be a software key for ms access's settings. The value names
will be like:

MRU1 MyFolder\MyFile.mdb
MRU2 MyOtherFolder\MyOtherFile.mdb
MRU3 etc.

When you see *all* of the recent files concerned together in a key like
that, delete all of the pesky references and voila, no more file list.
