Does anyone know how I can remove the QuickTime plug-in?
Somehow it was associated to open TIF files and it is
difficult to work with.

Thanks in advance.

Just a guess...

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.tif

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
You may need to also remove the plugin itself and you should see the
location in the Registry key above before you delete it.
