Removing programs from Taskbar

Hi. Does anyone know how to remove programs that are
running in the taskbar in XP? I have so many programs
that seem to start automatically, that I'd like to stop
from doing that. Thanks for your help.

Click on start then run,type in msconfig then click ok.

a popup will appear click on the tab "startup" there will
be a long list uncheck what you dont want to auto start
