Getting the following error when trying to remove a
printer from Windows 2000 Professional Workstation

Printer connection cannot be removed. You either entered
a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer
is no longer connected to the server.

Is the printer you are trying to remove located on a
server? If so it might be a case where the name of the
print on the client is different from the name on the server.

If this is a standalone printer (i.e parallel connected)
you can always go into the registry on the machine and do a
search for the printer and delete each registry key. You
don't have to put in the full name of the printer, just a
partial amount is fine. Once done deleting reigstry keys
reboot the machine and the printer should be gone.
