During boot-up and shut-down of my XP Pro system an unwanted photo appears on
the screen. It disappears when the system is finished booting up. I want to
remove it but I don't know how. I can't find where it is stored...any help
would appreciated. Thanks

Hi

If the picture wasn't installed by you and you don't what it is, try the
following programs to see what, if any, spyware there may be on your system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

Also see the following links:

Also virus check your system with the latest definitions for your AV
program.

The photo was installed by the former user of the system at my work place. It
is a photo of a husband and wife. Just not appropriate for current user.
Thanks for the good info about spyware/addware. Any more ideas??? can a
photo be stored in the intial configuration files///

Mike;
Try this:
Right click the Desktop
Click Properties
Clock Desktop tab
Change Background to None.
Click OK and reboot.
Then go back and set background as desired.
This has resolved this for many.
