removing partition from hard drive

c drive is partitioned into c: d: and e: I cannot format c: to get rid of partitions can anyone help?

To format c: (assuming that that's your boot drive), you'll have to
boot from the install CD, which will let you delete each partition,
then repartition, format, and reinstall XP.
