We upgraded a DC from NT4 to 2000 to get the domain to a
mixed mode 2000. We still have NT4 DC's running, along
with 2000 DC's. I want to remove the computer that we used
for the upgrade, the original computer that was a plain
load of NT 4 server and upgraded to 2000. What should I be
aware of? It's been a while, but I don't want to find out
2 weeks later that I've missed something and can't get it
back.

Any help would be appreciated.

DCPROMO the server out of the domain. If the server still contains FSMO
roles then move these roles to another server. (DCPROMO will do this in any
event.) Also make sure that if this server is a GC server to assign another
DC if this is the only GC. I assume that this inplace upgrade server perform
no other network services function, e.g. WINS, DHCP.

Good morning!

In addition to what Evan stated, please think about the issue that some
WIN2000 Clients might experience when you remove the 'upgraded' DC from your
environment. This happens in Mixed Mode environments - which you stated to
be the case currently. Please take a look at the following MSKB Article:
