Hi
I recently asked for advice on a free keylogger program.Someone here kindly
suggest some to try.It was for a friend who is abroad.
He installed: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/sfyklg.html

Apparently he installed it, 135KB in size and in it they recomend changing the
magic word (password) which he did. However after attempting this he couldnt
access it again and cant find the install/uninstall of it.
He tried downloading it again from the site but it said when he
tried......already installed!!

How could he find it on the computer and unistall it??It isnt in the add remove
progs and he can't find a folder for it.

Any ideas guys.

Im sorry if this is off topic but its a freeware proggy so Im hoping someone
knows the answer to the problem encountered.

Regards
Kevin

There's something called process explorer that shows all running
programs and associated dlls that might help. Freeware - It also
allows one to kill running processes so it is useful in
troubleshooting spyware, trojans etc..

http://www.sysinternals.com/ - "process explorer"

They also have something called "autoruns"

It shows all the stuff that can be called on to by other programs and
conditions - it takes more arm-wavin-an-a-hed-skrachin to figure out
and make it useful, and takes a long time to comb through the system.

Knowing his O/S would be handy. Knowing whether he has enabled
viewing of hidden files would help too. Did it come with a readme
file ? If so then he should read that as well.

Manually Uninstalling a Program
http://surecool.net/manuninst.htm

Accessing the Control Panel
http://www.free-keylogger.com/index.php
In order to keep the Free Keylogger invisible it neither creates a
program group in the Start Programs menu nor shows an icon in the tray
menu near the clock. The only way to access the Free Keylogger Control
Panel is to start any program, for example the Notepad or Calc and type
the magic word. By default the magic word is frklg. We recommend you to
change the magic word as soon as possible after installing Free
Keylogger on your computer. The magic word is case sensitive.
Important: The Free Keyboard Monitor's logs may contain private
information about your computer users. We have no responsibility for
collecting and use of this information. Please don't use this
information for illegal purposes.
Note: Although Free Keylogger is free of charge, it neither shows
annoying banners nor sends anything to any third party.
· Sorry, but there's no tech support for the FREE version.

Yep, thanks. He did download an unistaller proggy.

Hopefully it has worked.

To be honest if it had been me I would tend toward installations which have
clear advice along with an uninstaller in future.

Cheers

That would be kinda self-defeating in a keylogger, wouldn't you think?

The idea of keyloggers is, generally speaking, to spy on peoples
computer surfing, steal credit card numbers, etc.. Wouldn't do to
make it easy for the mark to find out what was happening.
