XP gave users the option to "opt" out of seeing the network connection icon,
so far i've been unable to find a similar vista option, can anyone help?

Best regards.

Hello J.Leander,

If you are talking about the network icon in the notification area near the
clock, you can easily change its behavior by performing the following steps.

1. Right-click the taskbar and choosing Properties.
2. Click the "Notification Area" tab.
3. Under the System icons section, click to check/uncheck "Network."
4. Click the Apply button and Ok.

Hello Eric

I'm trying to do the opposite - I need the network icon to apper in my
notification area. I followed the steps you told J. Leander to do, but the
button check for Network, Energy and Volume are disabled and I cannot check
or uncheck them.

Do you know what's happening?
