Removing MSNBC News alert icon from Task Bar

I subscribed to MSNBC News Alert E-mail service & it was
performing poorly. As a result, I attempted to delete
it.BUT The icon REFUSED to delete AND it STOPS windows
from closing .I followed ALL actions stated on internet,
but to no avail. I need your help! Please.
 
If you have deleted it from your Add/Remove then use Windows Explorer to see
if there is a folder in Programs relating to what you deleted..

Bullwinkle- I have found Folder, as per your advice; BUT it is marked "ACCESS DENIED" & will NOT allow to delete it. What do I do now? Thanks again for your help.
 
You could start in Safe mode and deleted from there, or ensure that it is not running, right click it without opening it and select
delete, also you could try dragging it to the recycle bin. Do a search of your Registry for anything pertaining to the program.
