Anybody know how to get rid of Windows media player 9?
have edited the registry to get rid of all references to
the the media player. But you just cannot delete all the
files. This is one nasty program..

In what respect?
WMPlayer can be configured to handle only the files desired, and other
players can coexist with it nicely. Here, QuickTime, RealOne and WMP and
a DVD player each does its thing with no conflicts.

True, it does coexist with other media players, I just
have a problem with not being able to decide whether or
not I want the program installed.

You can specify access to it (and other XP-integrated programs) via
Control Panel|ADD/REMOVE|SET PROGRAM ACCESS & DEFAULTS. In that way you
won't be bothered by the program, and operating system integrity will not
be disturbed.

Editing the registry to remove WMPlayer and the like can cause damage that
may not be immediately apparent, but may eventually degrade XP features or
performance.
