I have a friend that tried to install their own network. They have a router
and two XP computers, but selected the option "This computer is connected
directly to the Internet" even though a router is present.

I rebuilt the network connection to connect to the router and it is working,
but i would like to remove the ICS connection just to clean things up.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

What do you see that appears to be an ICS connection?

If it's a connection called "Internet Gateway", it has nothing to do
with ICS. The Internet Gateway connection represents your router.
Clicking it lets you monitor the router's operation. Disabling or
enabling it lets tells the router to disconnect from the Internet or
connect to the Internet.
