Hi. I have Windows XP and I want to reduce the number of
icons that appear in my desk top tray every time I start
up. Currently I have 15, half I don't need or use
regularly. Can u pls advise me how to eliminate the icons
from my tray but still keep the programs.

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard,

You need to disable unwanted applications loading at startup. See if the respective application has the option to run(or not to run) at startup. Configure the programs not to run at startup. If the application offers no such option, use MSCONFIG utility to disable startup programs. Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG. Click Startup tab, disable the applications (don't disable anti-virus, firewall and your ISP related applications). Restart Windows.

Startup Control Panel
Startup Control Panel is a nifty control panel applet that allows you to easily configure which programs run when your computer starts. It's simple to use and, like all my programs, is very small and won't burden your system. A valuable tool for system administrators!

Startup Control Panel is compatible with all modern versions of Windows, including Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.
