Removing Folder Hirearchy

I have an annoying problem, with, what is most likely, a very simple solution. Everytime I open up a folder or drive, the folder hirearchy is on the left hand side of the window by default. I can click it off, but would rather not have to. Does anyone know how I can change the settings so I dont have to deal with this everytime?
 
Change the default command for folders back to open in Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - File Types
