Removing Files

I am on Win XP/Home IE/7 w/sp2. I would like to know how to remove the
files; C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5. I used to be able to remove them from my Win 98 machine
by following the above path. When I do that on the XP machine they don't
show up-meanwhile they keep multiplying and using un-necessary resources. I
have done all the disk cleanup, etc., housekeeping but when I run a scan I
can see all of them, and there are many, go by.
Thanks,
Jemster

Take a look at CCleaner as a tool to remove Internet temporary and history
info, cookies, temp files, auto complete and other junk.
In the 'Windows' tab listing check the item types you want deleted.
Also available is customization, see Options/Custom to add any
other/additional folders you want files deleted from.

Have you tried the normal way of:
IE-Tools-Internet Options-Delete Files? (in the TIF section)
You might change your settings while you are there to use less disk
space if you are worried. (I set mine at 20Mb)

might also try navigating there in a command window anddoing a "attrib -a -s
-h -r" then a "del /s *.*"

Thank you so much Alan!! I guess I was under the misconception that when you
do a disk clean-up and it lists Temporary Internet Files that it would be
the ones I wanted....but it ain't!! :)
Seriously when I went to Internet options like you suggested and deleted
from there I knew when it was taking so long I was on the right track.
I had asked about this once before and never received an answer so I
especially appreciate your answer!!!!!!!

Thanks "JS" for the reply. Alan Edwards pointed me to the right place.
Already on my computer if only I would have known where to look!

Thanks for the reply but a blind delete like that to a novice would scare
the water outta me! :)
Alan's suggestion worked!
