Removing Epson cartridges

How can the ink cartridges be removed prior to the status monitor indicating
that they are empty? This is a Stylus Color 850.

I forget the exact sequence on that one but you may hold two buttons for a
few seconds and that centers the ink carriage allowing removal - it is in
the manual.
