Removing entries in my Collections

After I finished making and saving a movie, I inadvertently removed a bunch
of video files (not the resulting wmv file though)> I though my original
clips were stored in the (dot)MSWMM file. I guess not.

Consequently, I re-imported the wmv file into my collection JUST IN CASE I
WANTED TO EDIT IT SOME MORE. Now, in the drop-down I have 2 entries,
"Whatever" and "Whatever (1)". Because the files associated with the
"Whatever" file are gone, I want to remove it. HOW DO I REMOVE IT?

I'd probably then want to rename "Whatever (1)" to "Whatever". If that's
going to mess file associations up, I'd probably want to remove BOTH files in
the Collection and re-import the wmv file again.

So, my basic question is, How do you remove a file(name) in the Collections
drop-down?

Correct...the .mswmm project file does
not include source files. If the source
files are still available...you may be able
to right click the Red Xs and browse to
re-establish the path.

Highlight the file and press your Delete key.
or...
Right click the file and from the menu...choose Delete

Same answer:

Thanks John. At first I couldn't highlight any of the entries, nor did the
delete key work. That's because I was using the drop-down box to the right of
"tasks" and "collections". So, I decided to clicked on the icon labeled
"Collections". Lo and behold, a pane opened to the left where I COULD delete
an entry, and also rename an entry. THANKS!

I had seen another posting about right-clicking on the red-X, but that was
after I had deleted the files and re-imported the wmv file. I HAVE TO ASK
THOUGH, when browsing for a missing clip, if the file is found, do ALL the
clips return, or does just the one clip return?

You're welcome...

It just takes a little experimenting.

Depends on the file structure...you may
have to browse for more than one.

Just to add to the pile...

In some cases, I import a video clip and add it to the time line. I then
edit the clip by shortening it or spliting it, adding other different clips
in between. If for some reason I get the red Xes on the clip that I edited,
I only need to browse for itonce. Once I have found it MM knows where
this clip was used and the other red Xes disappear from the other spots
(clips) that use the same original video.
