Is there an easy way to remove a dwt (which is the menu bar) from multiple
pages.

Basically i have a menu bar in English and need to take it off and put a
copy of the dwt in another language on the translated pages - is there an
easy way to take it off and reinsert it translated - or will I have to take
it off every page by hand?

Modify your DWT to make the menu bar an editable region
(with say a FP Include Page to your current menu)
- then you can open the alternate language pages and just change the Include page link to point to different menu files

PS
It is really best to set up alternate language pages in subwebs of their own
(DWTs work across subwebs)
