I have a Compaq Presario model 7110US with the original 64MB SDR
nVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TV-Out AGP graphic card the AGP slot. I want to
get a new video card for it & I know I have to remove the old video
card drivers first.

The problem is that the video card drivers DO NOT appear under the
ADD/REMOVE programs list in Windows XP. So how does one remove the
old video card drivers if they are not listed?

THANKS.

I think you go into Device Manager and delete them there. But I'd wait for
more savvy people to answer your post.

You might try to click on "show hidden devices" shown under the
"Action" menu-item in device manager.

Although you may be informed by the nice application that the device
may be needed to "boot the pc" ??
In which case you are better off looking for a driver removal tool
from the manufacturer of the device you are trying to remove.

To change the videocard you need a special procedure.
First, switch down to 640 x 480 and standard VGA.
Then you can switch your videocard and install the drivers for
the new one.

Most probably, the installation utility for the new card will
enable the new drivers for you.
If not, select the new card in the video-properties.

Device Manager--Display Adapter--Nvidia GeForce2--(Right-click)
Uninstall--Answer Prompts--Shutdown Computer--Install new card--Turn on
computer--Install new drivers

Alternatively, install new graphics card and install new drivers. The
old drivers will become dormant and if you really want to remove them
later boot into Safe Mode and they will be visible in the Device
Manager window.

For XP just shutdown and change cards but make a restore point before
doing anything else.
HTH :)

There is an option to show hidden drivers.

But be careful - Windows is not forgiving when it comes to deleting an
active driver.

Best make a clone of the HD before you fool around with driver
removal.
