I have a USB connected DVD drive that I would like to shut off, but must stop it
before I turn it off otherwise it crashes XP. Typically there would be an icon in
the tray for stopping hardware before removing it, however, often it's not there.

Is there an image somewhere that I can run, or an option in some obscure tool
that will do this? I did some searching and saw a reference to hotplug.dll, but
I need something to execute. Is there some system service that should be
running?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You could try my RemoveDrive commandline tool. I've never
tested it with USB DVD drives but it should work. If not
by the drive letter then by the device name.

Please let me know if it works...
