I need to print presentations without our background, which is very dark
When I went to 'tools' - 'options' - 'print' tab and unchecked backgroun
(which is the way "HELP" suggested, nothing happened.

What version of PPT are you working in?

If you go to the print menu, select Black & White, this removes the
background from the printouts. Of course this only works if the visual
background is truly a background and not a full frame image (on individual
slides or on master slide).

Oh, that help file is nuts.

Try printing pure black and white from File/Print instead of choosing
greyscale.

If that doesn't work, holler back. And please tell us which version of
PPT.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

First of all let me take a moment to explain that the "Background printing"
in the Tools->Options dialog has nothing to do with the visible
slide/presentation background. Instead, it's all about whether or not, when
printing, PowerPoint pauses until printing is completed ("Background
printing" option unchecked) vs. control is returned immediately to
PowerPoint so that you can continue to use PowerPoint while it prints the
presentation at the same time <or, in the "background"> (when "Background
printing" option is checked).

Now, getting back to the actual issue. PowerPoint does not specificially
have a print option to disable the printing of the "background formatting"
of slides. There are some workarounds including:

1) Change presentation design before printing (to a design which does not
contain any slide background formatting <just simple white color>), or
2) For each slide/master containing background formatting you want to
exclude, set the grayscale setting (while in Grayscale view) for the
background elements to "Don't Show" and, when printing, use the Grayscale
option, or
3) For each slide containing background formatting from the slide/title
master, temporarily format the slide background to "Omit background
graphics from master"

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide additional functionality in this area, don't forget to
send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)..
