Hi,

I have an unwanted icon in "my computer", a link to a mp3 player that my
friend installed the drivers/software long ago. I have long since erased
the entire software, but the icon will NOT go away. The icon is "NOMAD
Jukebox 2/3/Zen"

Anyone?

Thanks so much,

Andy

This freeware should work for you
http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/bin/moveonb.exe
Install MoveOnBoot then use Programs->GiPo@Utilites->MoveOnBoot to browser
to the icon. The next time you restart the computer the file will be deleted
before Windows boots to the Desktop. The installer also creates a right
click context short cut so you can just right click the icon and select the
option to Delete file(s) on next reboot.

Andy,

To hide the icon from My Computer view, use Tweak UI.

TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP/XP SP1
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Launch TweakUI, click My Computer option in the left. Uncheck the Nomad entry in the right-side.

To remove the Nomad entry permantly from My Computer view:

Open Regedit.exe and navigate to:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace

One of the subkeys {GUID} is the Nomad entry. Backup each key to REG file before deleting a sub-key.
