Hello,

I have an Access 97 database with security implemented. I have admin rights
to this database. I want to convert this database from Access 97 to Access
2002.

I tried this: (on a copy!)

I put the Admin userid back in the Admins group.

I gave Admin ownership of all the objects in the database.

I opened a new, blank 97 database using the same workgroup file as the
original and moved all the objects from the original to the new database.

After this I was able to open the new database using the default work group
file. Everything appeared to be as I wanted it. But when I opened the new 97
database with 2002, there were no objects in it. I did something wrong here!

What I want to do is remove security from the original database so I can
open it in Access 2002 and convert it. Then build new security using 2002.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should give the Users Group full permission to all objects. Then open a
new, blank 97 database *using the standard system.mdw*, not using the same
workgroup file as the original. Then import all objects from your old
database.

Then open this in 2002 and convert.

Thank you Joan,
I had made a mistake in my original post... The process I outlined did, in
fact, seem to work. I was able to open and convert the new database in
Access 2002.

I will continue to experiment with this and try out your suggestion.

Thanks again
