Removing a template at startup

R

Robert M. Lincoln

I installed a palm desktop program (Sony Clie), and I see that a
"PALMAPP.DOT" template loads at startup each time.

The problem is that this template contains macros, and each time I start
Word, I get an annoying message to enable/disable the macros. I don't know
what this *.DOT template does, and I'm sure I don't use it. I've tried to
delete it under the menu Tools|Templates and Add-Ins...", but the "Remove"
button is grayed out. Un-checking doesn't work either.

How do I get rid of the *.DOT file at Word startup?

Thanks

Hi Robert,

Before starting Word, use Windows Explorer to access the Word\Startup
directory it will be in a path something like

Drive:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup

So, it's just OK to delete the file and there won't be any registry or other
problems?

Robert,

Yes, it is OK to just delete the file.
