Removing a shortcut/toolbar modification from my desktop

Hi! I've developed an irksome cosmetic problem: something that looks like a vertical 'My Computer' toolbar has appeared on the right of my screen. I don't really know what it is and so far I've found nothing in the control pannel tutorials to help me remove it. I'm worried because on several occasions, I've accidentally opened and nearly modified files which I'd rather be safely tucked away. Thanks - ayna.

Ayna,

Right click on an empty spot of your Task Bar, mouse to Toolbars at the top
of the menu and click on My Computer in the slide out menu to deselect that
tool bar. That should take care of it for you. If it doesn't, please post
back.
