Removing a printer driver...

I have this printer driver that is giving me a hard time. It is for an HP
2200 DTN LaserJet that has been uninstalled from all clients and servers.
Whenever I visit the Drivers list located at File - Server Properties of the
Printers folder and try to delete the driver, I get the message:

"Unable to remove HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5, Intel, Windows 2000 Driver.
The specified driver is currently in use."

This message is of course false as the printer is no longer on the network.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Thanks in advance,

Ian

What that usually means is that one or more profiles for users that have
logged on at that computer in the past still have a printer that is
configured to use that driver.

See http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm. In step 7,
just remove the registry sub-key that corresponds to the printer driver you
want to remove.

This won't remove the files that make up the actual driver, but should
remove it from the list of drivers on the Drivers tab of Server Properties.

Removing the actual driver files can be a bit tricky because the files for
all (or most anyway) are in the same folder
(%systemroot%\sytem32\spool\drivers\w32x86\2 or 3). Removing the files is
not usuallyl necessary because without the actual registry sub-key for the
driver, they are dormant (not used).

Hi Ian,

at command prompt type " net stop spooler"
after that, press alt+ ctrl +del => task manager =>
process.
then kill the exploere.exe.
come to command prompt type " net start spooler"

now start the exploere also, now repeat the process
as you did for Server Properties .
