how do i remove my computer and network places from the
desktop of a users machine - i do not want the public, who
is using the pc, to be able to see the network

I was playing with the MMC console and i added the "Group
Policy" snap-in.
Under user configuration there's a folder "desktop"
Here you can remove the desktop icons and many more other
options.
I dont know how to make this policy active on the
computer:-) but i'm sure you'll find out

Start>Run type MMC >console>Add/Remove Snap-in>add "Group
Policy" Finish, Close, OK +Local Computer Policy +User
Configuration +Administrative Templates folder Desktop
