Hi,

I made the dumb mistake of installing the wrong bluetooth drivers. Now
windows XP (professional SP1) shows only the "microsoft bluetooth
enumerator device". I can't seem to get rid of this, uninstall device
does not work, nor does the removal of the driver file:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\bthenum.sys .

It appears necessary to remove the driver completely for the correct
usage of the bluetooth dongle.

Can someone tell me how to remove the "microsoft bluetooth enumerator
device"?

Connect the dongle, try again to remove all.

Q

the enumerator is enumerated by the core radio driver. if you change the
radio's driver, bthenum will not appear.

Hallo Doron Holan [MS],

radio's driver, bthenum will not appear.

Thanks, but how do I change the radio's driver? I only get the
enumerator :(

you were saying you wanted to install another vendor's drivers. they would
have instructions on how to do that. you can open device manager, view by
connection and find the bluetooth radio and run update driver from there.

Hi

This Knowledge Base article provides the information you need to fully
uninstall the MS Bluetooth desktop.

When editing the registry, follow the instructions carefully.

811805 - Mouse and keyboard are not detected when you install Wireless
Optical Desktop for Bluetooth
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811805

Hope that helps

Hallo Pete Baker,
Be careful in there SDC :o)

Let us know how you get on.

Well, I'm not that big an ID ten T :)

I figured that if I could not remove the enumerator driver, I would
end up reinstalling my system anyway, thus I have removed the registry
entries.

I'm going to reboot now, If you see any postings of me in the next two
days, then my system booted after sending this message :)

Hallo Pete Baker,

Thanks a million Pete. It worked I am recommending you for the savior
of the month award. Your posting just saved me a weekend reinstalling
:)

The KB article was not thorough enough, but with just a little bit
more registry hacking I managed to remove all faulty driver crap.

A little note to Microsoft and Widom: Please, pretty please with sugar
on top, create a working Microsoft/Widom Bluetooth solution that works
with all Widom based BT dongles and Windows XP without serious
hacking.
