My son sent me an email with an attachment .mpg file. When I open it it says
"File attachment: MOV00263.MPG
The file attached to this email was removed
because the file name is not allowed."
I have reset my security settings to allow attachments.
I have checked & verified that I can receive & play .mpg files on my computer.
I have verified that .mpg files are not on the unsafe file list.
I am not able to access the .mpg file by forwarding the email, because it
has been totally removed.
I cannot right-click on the file to unblock/open it, because it has been
totally removed.
Are there any other things I can do?

It's highly possible, in that case, that the file contained a virus and
your AV program has deleted it. What Email client do you use, what AV
program, and what was the *EXACT* message you got?

"File attachment: MOV00263.MPG

This is the actual message received. It was on the bottom of the message
that had several photos attached that came through just fine.

OOPS, I forgot to tell you I have Norton AV, my email is world client, or
mailwasher or outlook express (sorry, I'm not sure of your question).

This message would seem to be from your AV (Norton) because there may be
certain files that it blocks. Check the settings in Norton to ensure
that that file type is not one of the ones that is blocked by default.

If you do a Google search on "The file attached to this email was
removed because the file name is not allowed." you will get quite a few
pages of results!
