Removed Child domain showing in logon box

Liran

Hi

I removed a child domain which was unable to be demoted
properly (windows 2000) using information in article 230306

The Domain on longer appear in "domains and trusts", and
is also not listed in ntdsutil.

Replication has taken place between the parent domain DCs.
The DC in the child domain was a single one.

I did not clean up the DNS records for the child domain yet.

On the computers of the parent domain the child domain
still appears in the domain box of the logon screen.

Does it have smomething to do with not removing the DNS
records ?
Can it be anything else ?

Thanks

Liran

Hi Liran. It sounds like we still have a trust relationship set up with
this domain. Please try the following:

1. Open AD Domains and Trusts.
2. Right click on the parent domain name and select Properties.
3. Select the Trusts tab.
4. If the domain that was removed is still listed here, highlight it and
click on "Remove".
