Is there a way to remove all the extraneous stuff that
Word put in a page that is saved as HTML?

Which version of FrontPage and Word?

Thre is always copy from Word to Notepad then from Notepad to FrontPage
which works in all version but you'll have to reformat in FrontPage.

If you are using Word 2002 and FP 2002 when you copy from Word and paste
into FP normal view you'll see the smart tag icon, click on it and choose
'match destination styles' and that should get rid of the Word mso:style
code.

In FP2000 / MSO 2000 use the Html Filter
(from Start Menu - set the filter option first)
- see details at http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/Msohtmf2.aspx
Then In FP File Import the .htm (and related folders)

In FP2002 / MSO 2002 from Word use File Save As and select Web Page, Filtered
Then In FP File Import the .htm (and related folders)
- You will still have to open the page & Edit Select All, Format Remove Styles, then clean out the html since a lot of the MSP junk
is left behind (as a w/ the paste option)

Fortunately FP2003 has a better Word Formatting Stripper (-;
