Have numerous Wanminiport (Dial In and Dial Out Adapters) hidden in Network
adapter folder and since I have no idea what is using them would like to
remove. Tried un-installing but sytem will not allow even if miniport is
disabled and system re-booted. I removed them from the Control Set 001 then
went back and was able to un-install. The only thing is the sequence number
for my NIC remained at it's high number (18) and Windows Auto Update check
stopped working. Everything else seems OK. Restored from Image backup. Auto
Update check still doesn't work.

How should these hidden miniports be removed?

TIA, Bill

Remove (unbind) the unneeded protocols from within Control Panel|Network

Thanks Dave. Is there any way to find out what program may have installed
these Miniports? Concerned about virus/hacker. Probably unfounded., I hope.

Appoligies for second reply. These hidden Wan Miniport Dialups do not show
in Control Panel|Network. They can only be seen in Manage|Net adapters then
a click on View|Show hidden devices. Also they are using NetBEUI. Can't seem
to do anything from the manage panel. Don't know how they got there.

TIA, Bill

Then I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Are you wanting to remove an
adapter? If so Control Panel|Network|"connection"|Properties|General and
unbind (uncheck) all items and then remove it from Device Manager
