Remove text from autoshape - PowerPoint 2003

In PowerPoint 2003 is it possible to remove or turn off text box features
from an autoshape? In effect I want to do the opposite of >Right-click >Edit
Text.
 
Not sure I understand what you want to do.
Maybe you could copy the shape and paste special as a png?
