I was given an old system with w98. I don't plan on using it for
anything but a learning tool. It does have a few programs on it which I
would like to move to a different machine. Can this be done easily? I
don't have and disks with it. I believe the software was a add on ,since
it is much newer. For example the firewall/virus program. Thanks

Not likely
when software is installed it generally needs registry entries
in order to work properly

you can get free virus protion software from
www.grisoft.com

and a free firewall from zonealarm

Unless the programs are old dos programs you will not be able to move them,
like Philo said there is more to it then just copying and pasting the
program files.

Belarc advisor may give you the keys that you need, then borrow install
cd's from a friend.

Hello, Get the software program called pc relocator. It moves the programs from
machine to machine. You must be able to load this program in both machines. It
does come with a cable, usb or use a nic card
