I want to remove a software installation that was put in computer
configuration - software settings - msi package. This was put in the
default domain policy so I know I can't just delete the policy. Is there
anyway to delete the sofware package so it doesn't install everytime my
users logon? An admin before installed wuau22.msi, but now it is uncessary
since all clients are at sp 4. It still installs regardless.

Thanks
Shawn

Hi Shawn-

You should be able to edit that software assignment so that it does not
install at logon.

1) In AD Users and Computers, right click on the domain object and select
properties.

2) In the properties, click on the Group Policy folder tab so that it is in
front.

3) Select the Default Domain Policy and then click Edit.

4) In the group policy editor, go to Computer Configuration->Software
Settings->Software Installation. The installer should appear in the right
hand pane.

5) Open the properties for that assignment, then click on the Deployment
folder tab.

6) Remove the check box from "Install this application at logon".

Please repost if that does not help.

This is no install this application at logon. The server is at SP3 not SP4
since one application will not work under SP4. Here is what is under the
deployment tab for the wuau22.msi:

Deployment type:
Published (greyed out)
Assigned (selected)

Deployment options:
Auto-install this aplication by file extension activation (selected and
greyed out)
Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management
Do not display this package in the Add/Remove Programs control panel (greyed
out)

Installation user interface options
Basic (selected)
Maximum

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Shawn
