Know I'm over looking something very basic, and am sure this has been asked
many times before.

Running Word2000.

Have a document with three sections. Simply put I wish to remove the page
numbers from one specific section.

Any action taken in one section is reflected in all. I see reference to the
links between sections must be broken. Does this mean each section must be
broken out into it's distinct module?

Sad part is I thought I performed this take once upon a time. Just can't
remember how.

Thank in advance.

"And.... Exactly at which point did you consider this a good idea?"

Hi, Clint. Click in the section where you want to remove the page numbers, and note the section number displayed at the bottom left corner of your screen. Click on View | Header and Footer. Make sure you are in the Header/Footer of the correct section. On the Header and Footer toolbar, turn off "Same as previous" in the header and then in the footer, and also turn off "Same as previous" in the header and footer of the following section. Now you can delete the page numbers from the section you don't want them in, without affecting previous and subsequent sections.

Hmmmm.......

What I am trying to delete are the page numbers in section-1.

"Same as previous" is greyed out in section one I think because the is NO
previous section.

If I try to turn off "Same as previous" in "section-2" I am prompted if I want
to merge my footers with section-1. And I don't think that is what I want.

You can't turn off "same as previous" in section 1, and you don' t need to, because there is no previous section. The "same as previous" button appears backlit/highlighted if it is on, and looks like the other icons if it is off. Is the page number in the header or in the footer? Are you trying to turn off "same as previous" in the header or in the footer? You must already have turned off same as previous in section 2 if you are prompted to link to the section 1 header/footer when you click on the "same as previous" button.

Are you sure you have a SECTION break between sections 1 and 2, and not a PAGE break between pages 1 and 2?

You must already have turned off same as previous in section 2 if you are
prompted to link to the section 1 header/footer when you click on the "same
as previous" button.

The key words are "Have Already".

Deleted the page numbers in section-1. Turned off "Same as previous in
section-2. Then reinserted the page numbers starting in section-2. All is
well.

Thanks for the help.

Just too many keys and so few fingers.
