I would like to remove the "Search" shortcut from the Start" menu without
hindering its function elsewhere (like in Windows Explorer). Anyone help on
this one?

Hi Jack,

If you are using the XP-style start menu, then you will find the option to
show/hide search on the advanced tab under customize in the Taskbar and
Start menu properties.

I am using Classic, can I access the setting from there?

In classic mode - pointer on the Start menu button, right-click for
"properties". Make sure the "Classic Start Menu" hole is selected, then
click "Customise" - scroll down the list and remove the "tick" beside
"Search". Then, "apply" - job done.

Hope this helps - Len.

Thanks Len, but it didn't work. There is no "Search" or "Search tick" on
the Customize list in my classic start menu. But when I left-click the
"Start" button, Search is there.

Jack,

You will not be able to remove Search if you are using the Classic style.
Let me suggest that you switch to XP Style and remove Search. Once you have
switched to XP style, remove search under Customize > Advanced

Hope this helps.
