I have transferred files using a Cruser San Disk to my laptop in several folders identical to the first computer. Both computers use Office 2000 with the latop using Windows XP and the other computer using Windows 95. When I want to use files on the laptop the Windows or Excell document comes onto a blank screen with the statement "requesting virus scan" at the bottom of the screen. This virus scan takes several minutes for a work document to a greater period of time for excell spreadsheets. I want to disengage the "Requesting Virus Scan." How do I do so?

Norton bloody anti virus at it again! Open Norton and deselect the option to
scan on opening.

I think you'll find they call it the Office Plug in - its under tools >
misc. Uncheck the box.

I too have this problem but I am unclear as to where the tools/misc is
located. Is it in Norton? If so I cannot find it on Norton 7.07.23D.
For that matter I cannot find a tools > misc in Excel 2000 either.

1. Open Norton AntiVirus (right-click on the Taskbar icon and choose this
option).

2. Click on the Options button at the top of the dialog.

3. In the Options dialog, click on Miscellaneous (menu on the left)

4. Clear the check box for "Enable Office Plug-in."

Disenabling office plug-in information did not work as discussed. The words 'requesting virus scan' disappeared off the right bottom of the blank document page, but now a simple work document of two pages takes over 2 minutes (tmed at 180 seconds) to open. Also, the document is not changeable. The computer locks out. Any advice as to what to do now? I tried the nice that ananymous entered, but came up with a message the site is not available or down.

The file that actually does this is called Officeav.dll.
Have a look at:
