control panel will not allow me to remove a program
because it can't find it, is there another way to remove
a program beside going thru the add remove feature in the
control panel
Check the program's folder in the Start Menu. There may be a shortcut to
it's own uninstall routine. Also look in the programs folder for an
uninstall.exe.
If no luck or if these options fail as well, one "trick" you might consider
is reinstalling the program so that it can be uninstalled properly.
Last resort is to delete the program and its folder. This removes the bulk
of the program but can leave behind shared files, files that were added to
the Windows folder, registry entries, etc.
Remove the program's name from Add/Remove Programs by editing the registry.
Locate the single subkey on the right hand side that contains the program's
name and delete. It will be under this branch of the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Usual cautions when editing the registry apply: backup registry and/or
export the key; then delete.
