ANyone know how to properly remove the Group Policy setting that sets
the maxpwdage for the domain? We have it set to 180 days, but need to
remove it for a period of time. When I remove the plicy setting and
give it a few days to repl, all users still show their password as
going to expire 180 from the last time it was set.
WHat am I missing?

Security policies, in general, don't undo themselves when you remove the
underlying GPO. You need to explicitly set the value to something else.

I found this Help article:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Maximum password ageComputer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security
Settings\Account Policies\Password Policy

Description
Determines the period of time (in days) that a password can be used
before the system requires the user to change it. You can set passwords
to expire after a number of days between 1 and 999, or you can specify
that passwords never expire by setting the number of days to 0.
