Is there a way to remove the None screen saver option? I
am using the group policy to set the timeout and force
password protection on my clients. I don't want to force
everyone to have the same screen saver which I know you
can do. But, some of my users have found out that if you
choose None as your screen saver, they computer never
locks, and they don't have to type their password to get
back in. I just want to know if there is a way to remove
the None option, this would force the computer to select
a screen saver, therefor securing it.

Thanks,
Dale

As far as I know there is no way to remove this.
If you must have the computers locked, and some users are selecting none
when you have given them the opportunity to choose a screensaver of their
choosing (gracious on your part I must say) they are taking advantage of the
situation. You gave them the opportunity to comply, they did not.

I would not hesitate to force a screensaver of my choice on them. Put them
in their own OU and lock them down. The users that comply (choose a
screensaver) can have that freedom.

Hello Dale,

Well I found 2 things on this. 1 said it can't be changed.

The other was not specifically related to what we are doing but gave some
more info:

How to change the ScreenSaver value to None in the registry:

Select HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop

Switch the ScreenSaveActive key from 1 to 0

Remove the contents of the SCRNSAVE.EXE key

If there is a way to do it it would probably have to do with modifying this
regestry key, there is another under HKey_Users
