In My Network Places, right-click and delete the entries for the
undesired computers.

Steve there is not delete option...any other thoughts??

Are we looking at the same thing, MaryLou?

When I open "My Network Places", I see a list of shared folders
belonging to other computers on the network. Entries in the list have
names giving the shared folder name and computer name, such as "Music
on Server" and "SharedDocs on XPPro". When I right-click an entry, a
menu appears that includes a "Delete" option.

What exactly do you see?

Oh when I go to the network places I then go to view network computers!!!!
There is not option there. So I guess I will delete everything having to do
with the computer I want to get rid of??? I see the delete option there. I'll
do that. NOW the other computer thats listed under "view workgroup computers"
isn't listed whhen you open MY NETWORK folder. I find that odd but how would
I get rid of that???
Thanks

You're welcome. Now I understand your question better. There's no
explicit way to delete a computer from "View workgroup computers". The
non-existent computers will go away after a while. Shutting down all
of your computers and then re-starting them might help.
