So what does your anti-virus program do? Anything? What do you use?
Do you use anti-virus software? If not, what prompted you that you have
the virus? What anti-spyware tools do you use?
Windows XP SP2 + NIS 2005 + Ad-Aware SE

When I start Microsoft Fax Service, I see a notice from the Alert Tracker
that says "Rule Default Block Netspy Trojan Horse Matched"

Thanks

Norton has several heuristic rules that it uses to detect intrusions and
malicious behavior. Those get updated periodically but nowhere near as
often as the signature updates. If their rule is false identifying a
process or behavior as a trojan, you report it to them. I once had one
of those rules (for which Symantec won't reveal how they work) and they
fixed it in their next update. Use Symantec's online web form to submit
a tech question. They usually get back within 3 to 4 business days.

Are you sure it is NetSpy and not NetSky ?

I was about to ask the same question.

NetSpy is a legitimate Windows packet sniffer offered by Sumit Birla.

Netsky and its many variants is a virus and the more likely culprit.

Right. And it is often the case of spelling errors (I know I make many) that can change the
meaning of what the problem is based upon.

For exmple...

The post entitled "Virus help"
By; PAUL ROBERTS
he uses the text; "w32.rander virus "
in A.C.A-V

The post entitled "Need help"
By; PAUL ROBERTS
he uses the text; "w32.randex virus"
in A.C.V

Same person, basically same post but 9 mins apart.
