Remove Items in Task Bar?

Task Bar.. I think that's the name of the area where the clock is located.
How do I remove items from that area? Start Menu? or?

How about ZoneAlarm and AVG anti virus? These two only pop in when I start
IE... this makes sense but seems to take quite a bit of time to load when I
click on IE.

First open the item and see if it has a configuration or preferences option.
There look for a "Run at Windows Startup" or similar option, uncheck it.

Failing that, look in Programs/Startup. Delete the shortcut to those items
you don't want.

After that, use msconfig.exe to deselect programs you don't want run at
startup.
