remove icon from desk top

I deleted a program but I cannot remove the icon that
continues to stay on the right bottom side of the screen.
If I right click it no option to delete it appear on the
menu.
Can you help me?

Do you mean it appears in the little box on the bottom right along with the
clock?
If so then that's the system tray and it usually shows programs that are
actually running but hidden in the background.
What's the program?

Did you try rebooting? Usually an uninstalled program would remain in memory
unless deleted by the uninstallation program or reboot is done.
 
Have you tried just selecting the icon, and then deleting
it by pressing the delete key on the keyboard? Or, you
might want to try dragging the icon to the recycling bin.
If all else fails, do you have a third party uninstall
program? I find them quite useful.
