Removal of XP from a Dual Boot XP/W2K setup

I have my Hard Drive partitioned into C: E: F: & G: ( D: ia a separate
drive).

I had W2K installed on C: and XP on G:

With this setup , on bootup , I get a black screen which asks me to
choose between XP or W2K.

I have now removed XP by formatting the G: drive but I still get this
black screen offering the choice of W2K or XP on bootup.

How do I prevent the appearance of this choice now that XP has been
removed ?

You need to edit the boot ini file. Go to control panel
and click on the system icon. In the system icon window
click on the Advanced tab and then click the Settings
button in the startup and recovery section at the bottom
of the window. Whent he startup and recovery window opens
press the Edit button to edit the boot ini file. Remove
the line which refers to windows xp. Don't forget to save
the file after you have made the alterations.
Incidentally, as a precaution, you may want to save the
file under another name before making any alterations. If
anything goes wrong you can then rename the file boot ini
and copy it back to the C drive.

Thanks - that did it OK.

There is a further question on this which is probably not appropriate
to this NG but is associated with my original post here.

I now get W2K booting OK without XP being offered as a choice but I
now notice that the previous black screen which came up when I only
had W2K installed which had the instructions to use the F8 key if it
was required to get into a Command prompt no longer appears . The PC
now goes straight into the normal W2K screen without giving the
previous note about the possible use of F8.

I'm wondering how to get this back again as now , if you need to use
F8 , you have to be really quick to click it.

Maybe I should ask this in a W2K NG ?
