Jenny

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help.

Despite all of my attempts to clear out about seven
websites from my address bar, I can't. I've run S&D, Ad-A,
cleared out my history on every level and as soon as I
type... i.e. "www.a"... the entire site listing and all
it's 'family' shows up. My history, files and cookies are
as clean as I know how to make them... but the little
buggers are still there.

I've searched the boards here and did searches over the
net, found one similar question on another site which
wasn't answered.

Any help here, or should I plan on adopting these little
URLs? I'm sure there's a way to completely clear these
buggers out.

Thanx in advance.

Thanks JR, but unfortunately, that proceedure hasn't
produced the desired results. Thanks though for taking the
time to respond.

I'm thinking it's something bored deep into my system
somewhere as all the "surface" deletions and scans produce
nothing. I use updated NAV and have run RAV, McAFEE, Panda
and one other program in addition to Ad-aware and
Spybot... all say the system is clean and ready to roll.

All the best in 2004.

Re:

Jenny,
Delete the History folder. A new one will be created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) I've heard of several cases where
FHE didn't work with WinXP. It might have been user error.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

If these entries disappear, but are recreated, you still have some sort of
malware running.

In that case, go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ Read about HijackThis.
download hijackThis and post a log to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal
Support" forum at
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

The experts there will help you clean this up.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Don,

FHE seems to have done the trick without having to delete
the History file. I've seen and heard of that program but
until now, have never given it a whirl... I'm impressed.

Thank you for taking the time to give me so many options.
Very much appreciated.
