Removable storage

Hi,
I recently installeda compaq 20/40 GB DAT tape drive on my
Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Well, I did a test backup
using the Windoows backup utility and it worked fine. Now
when i have failed to do backup on another tape just
because the system has failed to dismount the tape I first
used, it says the service has not been installed. When I
check under computer management the tape drive shows "not
present". I have tried reinstalling the drivers but it
does not work. Please help me, I am confused.

I'd a similar problem, I de-installed the tape drive, re-booted the server and left it to re-detect the drive. This solved the issue for me.
 
Tried all that but failed, i think the problem originates
from the system being unable to dismount the tape. help me
