I have a recurring problem with my tape backups and it
seems to be a problem with Removable Storage. I am
running Win2K Server with an HP SureStore DAT40x6e
autoloader. I am using NTBACKUP to perform scheduled
backups. Periodically, and without warning or any
eventlog items, a backup job just does not work.
Symptoms are 1) an item to load the correct tape
is "waiting" in the RSM Work Queue, 2) An attempt to use
the Door Access function reports a "Failed" in the work
queue. So far my solution is to Stop the Removable
Storage service, manually eject the tape cartridge, Start
Removable Storage, and insert the tape cartridge. I then
must manually redo the missed job.
Any help would be welcomed.
