I'm looking for a way to manage the download and installation of Windows
updates remotely. Unfortunately the environment I'm working with has some
very strict production hours, and several flavors of production servers, so a
Group Policy isn't ideal for what I need to do.
At this time I have the servers setup to notify when updates are available,
and then someone manually initiates the download, then manually starts the
install, and then ends with a manual reboot if needed.
I would like to design a script that would do this remotely workign form a
list of IP addresses. I could even write a program using Visual Basic .NET if
there were methods available to control the update program with.
Has anyone tried this before? Any ideas or suggestions would really help me
out. Thanks!
